The Sapienza Refuge is located at an altitude of 1910 meters a.s.l. on the southern slope of Etna in the territory of Nicolosi (CT). It’s a tourist pole that receives over a million tourists every years and offers the opportunity to use of escort services for ascending to the volcanic summits, ski slopes and a cable car. A few steps from the Rifugio square there are the Silvestri Craters formed during the eruption of 1892. The lower crater is easily lined up for a tourist visit because located a few meters from the Provincial Road and allowing you to be circumnavigated at the top giving a suggestive landscape. The Upper Crater requires a slightly higher preparation than the “Brother” since preceded by a steep climb before reaching the edge of the crater.
